New Water Shut-Off Policy Starts in October

Has this ever happened to you?

You’re in the shower and you’re shampooing your hair. All of a sudden, the water is down to a trickle! You missed the water shut off notice because you haven’t been to the mail box for a few days and didn’t see the notice!

The New Water Shut-Off Policy

In the month of August, Courtyards has had four days when water was shut off in one of our three buildings. Even though the notifications are now available on the website, Facebook and Twitter, you can still be left to deal with the consequences of being unprepared for an unknown time without water.

The Board has voted to initiate a once-a-month only, water shut off day. This is a procedure used in many other condominiums like ours where entire buildings lose water access when one homeowner is working on their unit’s plumbing.

The shut-off day details are:

  • it will be the first Wednesday of every month starting in October

  • it will be from 9am to 5pm

  • homeowners or their plumbers/contractors must notify Charlie’s Plumbing that they need the water shut off that day

  • if Charlie’s Plumbing does not get a call from anyone before the first Wednesday of the month, the water will not be shut off

The advantages of the new policy are:

  • you’ll always know the day when there will be no water

  • you can make contingency plans like filling your bathtub

  • you know you have to take a shower before 9am

Of course, if there's an emergency, like a pipe break, that will be taken care of immediately.

HOMEOWNERS: How We Can Create A Strong Community

A hive of bees is a perfect example of a community working together in harmony and for the common good of all its members. After all, a bee living alone can barely survive, let alone prosper. But in a hive made up of hundreds of other bees, each taking responsibility for the various jobs necessary for the survival of the community,  the lone bee not only survives, it contributes mightily to the success of the hive.
